Filmmaker, actor and philanthropist Raghava Lawrence traveled down the memory lane and posted a sweet picture on social media from his youth, with superstar Rajinikanth posing besides him. Needless to say, fans are gushing over over this blast from the past.

In the caption to his post, Raghava called Rajinikanth his guru (mentor) and also mentioned that the two were clicked on the sets of the latter’s 1993 rom-com Uzhaippali. Raghava further explained that hard work always pays off as he was a group dancer on the film then. Now, he is one of the most sought after artists in the country and is also collaborating with Bollywood star Akshay Kumar on their upcoming movie Laxmmi Bomb.

Captioning the throwback picture with Rajinikanth, Raghava wrote, “Sweet memories with my guru during uzhaippali movie shoot when I was a group dancer. Hard work never fails (sic).”

Raghava is also collaborating with Rajinikanth on Chandramukhi 2. Meanwhile, it was also announced on Monday that Raghava’s Laxmmi Bomb is going to premiere on OTT. New posters of the upcoming film, which marks the director’s entry in the Hindi film industry, were also unveiled by Akshay during a virtual press con.

Top Tamil actor Rajinikanth has conveyed his condolences to the family of a father-son duo in Tuticorin who died in a hospital after being allegedly thrashed in police custody. The superstar spoke to P Jayaraj’s widow over the phone and conveyed his heartfelt condolences, the actor’s

publicist said in a tweet on Sunday.

Jayaraj and his son Fennix, arrested for allegedly violating lockdown norms on business hours of their cellphone shop, died at a hospital in Kovilpatti on June 23, with the relatives alleging that they were severely thrashed at the Sathankulam police station by police personnel.

The incident had triggered a furore leading to the suspension of four policemen, including two sub-inspectors. Demands have been made for stringent action against the policemen.

Meanwhile, BJP Tamil Nadu unit president L Murugan expressed hope there would be justice for the death of the two persons.

“…the Sathankulam incident is a blot on the Tamil Nadu police,” he said and added that action against the culprits was the need of the hour.

He extended the BJP’s support to the grieving family to get justice.

Superstar Rajnikanth reportedly got a bomb threat at his Chennai residence on Thursday. It is being said that a prankster called 108 ambulance control centre at 10.30 am claiming that bombs were planted at the actor’s residence. Following which, a team of police officer rushed to conduct a search.

Times of India reports that due to the pandemic, the actor’s family members refused to let the police team in for checking and remained inside their home. However, the officials waited for 10 minutes and returned after thoroughly surveying the security guard cabin and the area outside the actor’s house.

Later, it was announced that it was a hoax call.

On the work front, Rajinkanth was last seen in AR Murugadoss-directed Darbar alongside Nayanthara. Suniel Shetty, Prateik Babbar, Nivetha Thomas and Yogi Babu were seen in supporting roles.

His next project is Siva’s Annaatthe, which also stars Nayanthara along with Keerthy Suresh, Khushboo and Meena. Directed by Siva, Annaatthe is Rajinikanth’s 168th movie and will release on Pongal 2021.

Annaatthe was initially supposed to release in mid 2020. However, shooting got stalled owing to the COVID-19 pandemic and the ensuing lockdown. It is reported that the unit was shooting in Hyderabad till just before the announcement of the lockdown. The team was planning to travel to different parts of India, including Pune and Kolkata.

Actor Rohit Roy was heavily trolled after he posted a joke on superstar Rajinikanth “testing positive” for coronavirus.

Following the negative comments, his reaction was: “Guys chill … don’t be so morose.”

Earlier, Rohit posted this joke on Instagram: “Rajinikant tested +ve for Corona. Corona is now under quarantine.”

He captioned it: “Let’s beat the shit outa the corona!! Be safe when u get back to work! Wear your masks n keep washing n sanitizing several times a day, as much as possible… The virus can’t affect us unless WE LET IT ! #staysafe.”

The joke didn’t go down well with many of the southern superstar’s fans, and Rohit was soon being trolled on social media.

The actor then responded with this comment: “Guys chill … don’t be so morose! A joke is a joke.. and sorry I don’t think it’s in bad taste.. it’s a typical Rajni sir joke.. and my intention was to make you guys smile.. look at the intention before you start commenting.. at least I didn’t crack a joke to hurt you all like you all are posting messages deliberately to hurt me.”
