Akshay Kumar’s Sooryavanshi to Hit Theatres On Diwali, Ranveer Singh’s 83 Set For Christmas Release?

Rohit Shetty’s Sooryavanshi starring Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif and Kabir Khan’s 83 with Ranveer Singh in the lead are reported to have a theatrical release this year on Diwali and Christmas, respectively. While there has been no official confirmation from the filmmakers or the actors yet, multiplex chain INOX shared the information via their official Twitter handle.

The tweet read: “Mark your calendars! We are getting ready to bring you Rohit Shetty’s Sooryavanshi on Diwali and Kabir Khan’s 83 on Christmas THIS YEAR!”

Film trade analyst, Akshaye Rathi too tweeted about the same.

Akshay Kumar’s film was set to hit the screens on March 24. The makers of Sooryavanshi were expecting massive box office numbers because the release had been strategically planned to coincide with Gudi Padwa holiday (new year for Marathi and Konkani community). But the country went into full coronavirus lockdown on March 24. Made on a reported budget of Rs 135 crore, Sooryavanshi also features Katrina Kaif and Ranveer Singh and Ajay Devgn in an extended cameo.

Likewise, Ranveer Singh’s upcoming film 83 was earlier slated to hit the screens on April 10. The Kabir Khan-directed 83 tells the story of India’s first-ever cricket World Cup victory in 1983. The film also stars Ranveer’s wife Deepika Padukone, who will be seen playing Kapil’s wife Romi. It also features Tahir Raj Bhasin, Ammy Virk, Sahil Khattar, Hardy Sandhu and Saqib Saleem.

Meanwhile, on Monday it was announced that seven Bollywood movies will be releasing directly on Disney+ Hotstar. These are Akshay Kumar-starrer Laxmmi Bomb, Ajay Devgn’s Bhuj: The Pride Of India, Sadak 2 starring Alia Bhatt, Sushant Singh Rajput’s last film Dil Bechara, The Big Bull starring Abhishek Bachchan, Vidyut Jammwal-starrer Khuda Haafiz and Lootcase featuring Kunal Kemmu.

Earlier, in May, spanning five Indian languages, Amazon Prime Video had announced the release of Amitabh Bachchan-Ayushmann Khurrana’s Gulabo Sitabo along with Anu Menon’s Shakuntala Devi with Vidya Balan in lead, legal drama Ponmagal Vandhal starring Jyotika in addition to Keerthy Suresh starrer Penguin (Tamil and Telugu), Sufiyum Sujatayum (Malayalam), Law (Kannada) and French Biryani (Kannada).

The announcement had led to a massive debate of films releasing directly on OTT platforms vs traditional theater.

When Sushant Singh Rajput Cheered ‘Dhoni, Dhoni’ While Watching MS Dhoni Biopic On TV; Watch

Back in 2016, the late actor Sushant Singh Rajput hit the ball out of the park with his outstanding performance in Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s biopic titled ‘MS Dhoni: The Untold Story’.

On June 14, Sushant was found dead at his Mumbai residence, sending shockwaves through the film industry and the cricketing fraternity in the country. Sushant was immensely popular and regarded highly for his unconventional choices and versatility on screen.

Sushant’s performance as Dhoni on the big screen earned him nationwide appreciation. He was lauded for the way he pulled off Dhoni’s batting style, mannerism, body language and carried himself during the promotion of the biopic.

Sushant’s fans have been reliving some of the old memories of the late actor, who has left a huge void in the lives of many. In a new video, which has now gone viral, we see Sushant reading a book and studying while his film MS Dhoni: The untold story plays on the television. The actor has his infectious smile on as he watches himself in the stadium as MS Dhoni.

MS Dhoni: The untold story released on September 30, 2016 and earned a ‘superhit’ tag at the box office. Prior to this, Sushant entered the Hindi film industry after a successful stint as a lead actor of Pavitra Rishta. His last theatrical release, Chhichorre, was Sushant’s biggest hit with domestic box office collection of over Rs 153 crore.

David Warner has himself turned out to be a find on TikTok. His videos featuring wife Candice and two daughters have been winning over fans hearts’ during the lockdown and even superstar Mahesh Babu had called his dance awesome during his live interaction session with fans recently.

Now, David has given a shout out to fellow TikTok star Arman Rathod who has been catching people’s attention for his dance cover videos on Bollywood songs. David recently posted a video of Arman Rathod dancing to Akshay Kumar’s track from Phir Hera Pheri, Mujhko Yaad Sataye Teri and gave him a thumbs up.

Captioning the post, David wrote, “Great work.”

Earlier, Remo D’Souza, Riteish Deshmukh and Rannvijay Singha have also shared Arman’s videos on social media and praised him for his cool moves on hit dance numbers.

Arman belongs to Valsad in Gujarat and has become an internet sensation after his videos went viral on social media.

Australian cricketer David Warner has been showing his love for South Indian stars and their dance tracks on TikTok amid the lockdown. David’s recent dance cover was on famous Mahesh Babu track Mindblock, which he performed to with his wife Candice.

Now, Mahesh Babu has responded to David and his wife’s video saying “He was simply awesome.” Mahesh Babu interacted with his fans on social media and during a #AskMahesh session a user questioned the Telugu star, “How do you think David Warner has danced for Mindblock.”

Responding to the question, Mahesh Babu wrote, “Yes he was simply awesome.”

Meanwhile, Mahesh Babu has also announced his new movie titled Sarkaru Vaari Paata on Sunday. The project is helmed by Parasuram. The official title and poster was unveiled on Mahesh Babu’s father Krishna’s birthday. The first look poster shows a profile shot of Mahesh Babu with a Re 1 coin tattooed on his neck. The teaser still has now got fans talking already. Buzz is strong that the movie will be based on Mahesh Babu’s character tackling bank frauds.

Mahesh Babu is also working on a film with Baahubali director SS Rajamouli and details related to the project are kept under the wraps for now. Rest assured, all things will come to light as lockdown lifts and shooting restarts.
