The government of India banned 59 Chinese mobile applications, including top social media platforms such as TikTok, Helo and WeChat, to counter the threat posed by these applications to the country’s “sovereignty and security,” it said in a press release late on Monday.

Several celebrities of the TV fraternity including Nia Sharma, Amrita Rao, Tina Datta, Kushal Tandon, Kamya Panjabi have lauded the government’s move to ban the Chinese app.

Nia Sharma took to Twitter to share a screenshot of the ban announcement on TV and wrote, “Thank youu for saving our country. This Virus named Tik tok should never be allowed again!”

Actor Kushal Tandon and ‘Shakti-Astitva Ke Ehsaas Ki’ actress Kamya Punjabi also hailed the government’s decision to ban the app. Tina Datta also said

Amrita Rao tweeted, “Trust the decision of banning some apps by the GOI, in the best interest of our country’s security, besides Social Media addiction and Mental health are known enemies .. Just a break from them may help detox and introspect!! #BanTikTokInIndia #BanTiktok #dataprotection.”

Actress Amrita Rao Forgoes Rent Of Her Tenants Due to Lockdown

Main Hoon Na actress Amrita Rao has forgone the salary of her tenants from March to July as many of them are freelancers and facing economic crisis.

Bollywood actress Amrita Rao, who is known for films like Vivaah and Mai Hoon Na has come forward to help her tenants during the Coronavirus lockdown. She has decided to forgo rent of her tenants from March to July, because they are facing economic crisis.

The actress said, “Some of my tenants are in freelance professions like acting and cinematography. Such professions have no guaranteed monthly income. The pandemic is a dire situation for all and they decided to be safer with their families back home. I feel the situation calls for me to be understanding and help them in my best capacity.”

However, she also mentioned, “Those tenants who have been occupying flats and have not lost their jobs should not use the lockdown as a mere pretext to skip paying dues and harass the landlords unnecessarily, which is also a growing menace during the lockdown.”

Amrita was last seen in the 2019 Nawazuddin Siddiqui starrer Thackeray.
